The Last Night

“It will come in a final darkness, a last night, from which there will be no dawn.”

The black oozes across pavements, seeps into gutters and rivers. Darker than death, it is the first of five “Undoings” to be unleashed by Thoth in a bid to bring both worlds under his power.

If anyone can prevent his tyranny and mend what is broken, it is Sylas and his Glimmer, Naeo. Along with their friend Simia, they must journey aboard the enchanted Windrush to the Academy of Souls, where it all began. As our world falls and the last of the Suhl battle to survive, Sylas and Naeo must come to terms with each other and their power, confront the unthinkable source of the rift, and discover the truth of Quintessence, the element that binds all things.

Can Sylas and Naeo finally unify the worlds? And if they do, what will it mean for us all?

TO BE PUBLISHED IN THE UK: 14th APRIL 2022

It has been a very, very long wait but at last, the final instalment of The Mirror Chronicles is here. An epic in its own right, The Last Night took more than three years to write and due in part to the pandemic, publication was also set back by almost two years. However, with apologies to readers who have been waiting patiently for the conclusion of the story, I am delighted to announce that it will finally reach the bookshelves – along with the trilogy as a whole – on April 14th this year.

Expect a tale of many parts spanning both worlds. Expect trials for characters old and new. Expect the ultimate battle for control of the worlds, measured out in five ‘Undoings’ and a last, desperate fight for the survival of Suhl. And of course, expect Sylas and Naeo at the heart of it all, struggling to harness their wonderful, mysterious, magical bond. They must face their greatest challenge yet – to understand the true cause of the rift between the worlds, and how it might be healed.

Can they mend what is broken?
